Adrian Peterson Great Player Photos

People were starting to whisper that Adrian Peterson’s 224 yard, 3 TD performance against the Bears was nothing but a fluke – more the result of luck and poor Bear tackling than Peterson greatness. Those whispers were all silenced today though, as Peterson ran roughshod over a previously stout San Diego Chargers’ defense, compiling an NFL record 296 yards and scoring 3 TDs in leading the Vikings to a 35-17 rout.

Peterson’s performance was made all the more remarkable by the fact that, at halftime, he was having only a so-so game – 43 yards and 1 touchdown. He must’ve taken some Superman pills in the locker room though, because on the Vikings’ first possession in the 3rd he busted one for 64 yards and a touchdown, and would end up posting a staggering 253 second-half yards and scoring a third TD for the game. And as if this weren’t good enough, Peterson put up these insane numbers right in front of the supposed best back in the league, Ladania

yelena isinbayeva latest pics and bio

Yelena Isinbaeva
She has been elected IAAF World Athlete of the Year in three of the last five years and world sportswoman of the year in 2007 and 2009.
Biography
Yelena is one of the greatest athletes of her generation, having set an incredible 27 world records – 15 outdoor and 12 indoor – and won nine straight gold medals in indoor and outdoor championships since breaking through in 2004.

On July 22, 2005, she became the first woman to clear the historic 5-metre barrier in the pole vault.

Yelena's current world records are 5.06m outdoors, a record she set at the IAAF Golden League, Zurich, Switzerland on August 28, 2009, and 5.00m indoors - a record set at the Donetsk indoor meeting on February 15, 2009.

Initially, Yelena trained as an artistic gymnast in her hometown of Volgograd but she had to leave the sport at the age of 15 because she was considered too tall to be competitive in gymnastics. She went on to reach a height of 1.74m.

She turned to the pole vault and made an immediate impact, winning her first major victory at the age of 16 at the 1998 World Youth Games in Moscow (achieving a height of 4.00m). The following year, Yelena cleared 4.10m at the World Youth Championships in Poland to claim her second gold medal.

She was also successful at the 2000 World Juniors, vaulting 4.20m this time. It was also in this year that the women's pole vault became an Olympic event at the Sydney Games.

Yelena continued to improve through the early years of the new millennium and gained her first senior medal with silver at the 2002 European Championships for a 4.55m clearance. She took gold with a leap of 4.65m at the 2003 European Under 23 Championships and just a few weeks later set her first world record - 4.82m – at a meeting at Gateshead, England. But she had to be content with bronze at the subsequent world championships in Paris.

By 2004, the women’s pole vault was really beginning to develop as an event and Yelena won her first major title when she triumphed at the world indoor championships in Budapest, setting a new world best mark of 4.86m and went on to win gold at the Athens Olympics with another new world best of 4.91m.

Serena Williams Biography & Pics

American tennis player. Born Serena Jameka Williams on September 26, 1981, in Saginaw, Michigan. The youngest of Richard and Oracene Williams' five daughters, Serena Williams, along with her sister Venus, has at various times throughout her career dominated the sport, capturing 11 Grand Slam singles titles and 10 doubles championships.

Serena's father—a former sharecropper from Louisiana determined to see his two youngest girls succeed—used what he'd gleaned from tennis books and videos to instruct Serena and Venus on how to play the game. At the age of three, practicing on a court not far from the family's new Compton, California, home, Serena withstood the rigors of daily two-hour practices from her father.

The fact that the family had relocated to Compton was no accident. With its high rate of gang activity, Richard Williams wanted to expose his daughters to the ugly possibilities of life "if they did not work hard and get an education." In this setting, on courts that were riddled with potholes and sometimes missing nets, Serena and Venus cut their teeth on the game of tennis and the requirements for persevering in a tough climate.
By 1991, Serena was 46-3 on the junior United States Tennis Association tour, and ranked first in the 10-and-under division. Sensing his girls needed better instruction to become successful professionals, he moved his family again—this time to Florida. There, Richard let go of some of his coaching responsibilities, but not the management of Serena and Venus' career. Wary of his daughters burning out too quickly, he scaled back their junior tournament schedule.

In 1995, Serena turned pro. Two years later, she was already No. 99 in the world rankings—up from 304 just 12 months before. A year later, she graduated high school, and almost immediately inked a $12 million shoe deal with Puma. In 1999, she beat out her sister in their race to the family's first Grand Slam win, when she captured the U.S. Open title.

It set the stage for a run of high-powered, high profile victories for both Williams sisters. Over the next decade, Serena alone would win 23 Grand Slam titles—including 10 doubles championships with her sister Venus.

With their signature style and play, Venus and Serena changed the look of their sport as well. Their sheer power and athletic ability overwhelmed opponents, and their sense of style and presence made them stand-out celebrities on the court.

Proving to have much more than just tennis clout, Serena expanded her brand into film, television, and fashion. She developed her own "Aneres" line of clothing, and in 2002 People magazine selected her as one of its 25 Most Intriguing People. Essence magazine later called her one of the country's 50 Most Inspiring African-Americans. She's also made television appearances, and lent her voice to shows such as The Simpsons.

In 2002, she won the French Open, the U.S. Open, and Wimbledon, defeating Venus in the finals of each tournament. She captured her first Australian Open in 2003, making her one of only five women players to have complete grand slam sets. The win also fulfilled her desire to finish off what she'd dubbed "The Serena Slam." In 2008, she won the U.S. Open and teamed with Venus to capture a second women's doubles Olympic gold medal at the Beijing Games.life of serena williams

Chuck Palumbo WWE Wreslter Photos

Chuck Palumbo: Out of the entire members of the Thriller’s, Chuck has had without doubt the most success in the WWE. Palumbo along with O’Haire were the WCW Tag Team Champions when WCW closed, so they dropped the belts to Undertaker and Kane on the June 28, 2001 edition of Smackdown. Afterwards Chuck was sent to OVW, he reappeared on WWE TV again in October when he was thrown out of the Alliance for requesting more T.V time, he then joined the WWF. Chuck began teaming with Billy Gunn in dark matches and house shows, the team started off as a generic babyface tag team, but the team later came to have strong homosexual overtones. On the February 21st 2002 edition of Smackdown Billy and Chuck defeated Spike Dudley and Tazz to become the new WWE World Tag Team Champions. They lost the tag titles to Rico and Rikishi at Judgement Day, but later won them back with their “stylist” Rico’s help. They soon lost the tag titles to Edge and Hulk Hogan. The team became embroiled in controversy when Chuck supposedly proposed to Billy to be his “partner for life” on an episode of Smackdown. The wedding turned out to be a “publicity stunt” and both men said they were straight. The minister turned out to be Eric Bischoff, their stylist Rico turned on them and jumped to Raw to
